I purchased Tanager in December 2015 through a used sailboat broker in Maryland. I knew how to sail and navigate, but very little about the myriad aspects of living aboard, cruising, refitting, and maintaining a 40+ year old fiberglass yacht.
In the intervening years I’ve learned heaps about fiberglass repair, DC electrical systems, solar installations, AGM and lithium iron phosphate batteries, marine plumbing, carpentry, and rigging. In between fixing up the boat we went sailing and learned even more about provisioning, cooking aboard, passagemaking, course planning, anchoring, and even a bit about how to have fun while doing all that.
Here you’ll find marine how-to articles and stories from the voyages of s/v Tanager.
